Huntersridge Farm/Dutchworks Rabbitry does not guarantee anything once rabbit has left the premises of our home. We do not guarantee the health or longevity of any of our sold rabbits. While we will do our best to accurately represent our animals at the time of the sale and will be happy to answer any questions you have about the rabbit you purchase we are not responsible for any health issues, injuries etc. to the rabbit once you have taken possession. Please ask questions before buying. Pet and wool animals do not come with a pedigree and are priced accordingly. Breeding stock and show quality animals are priced according to their pedigree and individual quality. We do not guarantee anything about the production or winning capacity of such, as there are many variables that go into a breeding and show program that are beyond our control.
You are welcome to have a third party inspect the rabbit prior to the sale for health!
We take great pride in the fact we have raised rabbits for over 28 years, have acquired intense knowledge of rabbits, are national award winners, and have earned the reputation of top quality stock!
Return Policy:
If for any reason you are unable to care for a rabbit purchased from HuntersRidge Farm/Dutchworks Rabbitry,
you may return it to us any time provided that it is in good health and free of injury.
There will be no refund or exchange of animals.
Quality of Rabbits:
We attempt to accurately describe each rabbit offered for sale. You are welcome to have another
breeder/judge examine your prospective purchase prior to commitment.
If buying a bred doe with a stud fee charge:
Only applies to purchase of one of our does with an additional stud fee charge arrangement: I will guarantee the doe will be bred and kindle a litter. If the doe does not conceive, the stud fee will be refunded. If the doe conceives and kindles a litter, then no refund will be issued. There are many factors in kindling and nestbox management of newborn kits that are beyond my control and will affect the outcome of the litter (such as the new owner's nestbox husbandry and management choices, etc.). While a happy outcome of a live litter is what I hope to have happen, please understand that, due to these variables under your control, I cannot guarantee a litter past the initial conception and birth. If your purchased doe does not conceive a litter (which happens with rabbits), please let me know and I will work with you to either rebreed the doe or refund the stud fee charge at your choice.
If buying a doe that I list as proven, I will be happy to provide you with her breeding and litter record for me, if you request such. I keep detailed records for breeding information, such as sire, date bred, gestation time, date kindled, numbers with colors of litters, etc.
I want to emphasize that each rabbit in our herd is a unique individual that I handle and interact with on a daily basis. Each has their own wonderful personality. With that, I care about the success of their placement in new homes, and am selective on whom I offer our stock to. Therefore, if I feel that the prospective home is not in the best interest of the rabbit, I retain the right to refuse sale. Their health and well being comes first and foremost to me.
SHIPPING RABBITS (We will ship at buyer's expense)
If you are interested in getting a rabbit and it needs to be shipped, here is how I handle it.
Everything is paid for in advance. This includes the rabbit sale price, the carrier (actual cost) , feed/water cups (actual cost) , health certificate (my vet charges for an office visit approx $25), and a fee of $50 mileage/time fee for me to take the rabbits to the vet and to the airport. The supplies/fees can total approx. $115-$135 not including sale price of the rabbit.
I ship out the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, WI (VIP) or out of Central Wisconsin Airport (Cargo) using Northwest Airlines. It is served by a number of national airlines and I will need to know your preference of a carrier if you have one.
Airline freight charges average $160-$200 per carrier (whether you have one rabbit or multiple, as it goes by weight-most of the shipment weight initially is the carrier so adding additional rabbits only adds a minimal pound charge to the shipment). As you can see, it is more feasible to ship a few rabbits at one time, than just one.
Total Cost to ship will be in the $275-$335 range (estimated, may run less or more depending on factors).
When you decide what rabbit you want, an initial non-refundable deposit is required to hold it, 50% of the rabbit. Any additional balance of monies need to "clear" before the rabbit is shipped.
Shipping dates and times are dependent upon temperature, so in warm weather, be prepared to accept a "red eye" flight for shipment and in winter, shipping may have to wait until temperatures allow. Most airlines impose temperature restrictions if the temps are below 25 degrees or above 85 degrees.
I am happy to help out a buyer with making the arrangements and reservations for shipping. It is not as complicated as it sounds. Generally, rabbits do just fine with the shipping. I acclimate the rabbits to trips locally in the car prior to airline shipping to adjust them to stress of going new places and each rabbit is placed on a water vitamin (aqua-vite) prior to shipping to help ease the transition. However, due to factors beyond my control with the airlines, once a rabbit leaves my care and control, I cannot be held responsible for any injuries, health or accidents during shipping. It is recommended that you insure the shipment as a precaution. I also prefer to wait until a bunny is 10 weeks old before shipping, to ensure they are strong enough to handle the stressors of a flight.
Any questions, please feel free to ask me!
